Primary ski trip 2010

Day 5

Overnight the snow fell heavily creating snowblower heaven for us to watch out of the window during breakfast. It also made for very challenging conditions throughout the mountain that required a very different style of skiing. The children coped admirably and made loads of progress. At the end of the skiing day a ten minute delay of the bus resulted in one of the world's largest snowball fights which was won by Messrs. Adamec, Hayes and McGuinness! The day finished off in style with some slick dancing moves and a few blossoming relationships.

Day 4

We've had a lovely relaxing ski free day today. It began with a refreshing swim followed by another filling lunch and then the afternoon brought on the talent with each room competing with one another. We experienced singing, dancing, acting and some other general shenanigans; mainly by the boys! Later in the evening we wrapped up warm and headed into the darkness with sixty three lanterns to light the way. An early night tonight means we're all prepared to hit the slopes again tomorrow.

Day 3

A gloriously sunny day with very little wind! Some ex-beginners had a baptism of fire today and took on the bigger slopes. They made some amazing progress and will make the most of our rest day tomorrow in order to hone their new skills on Thursday. The children are well versed in the routine of putting on boots, boarding the bus, attaching skis then doing it all again in reverse; they're like a well oiled machine! Aquapark and walking tomorrow.

Day 2

Today the children had to work out how to get forty pairs of skis and poles onto a bus, meaning we got off to a somewhat stuttering start!   It wasn't long, however, before they were sliding down the slopes with glee. It was a bright and sunny day with a biting wind at the tops but not enough to freeze the spirits of their enthusiasm.   Already the children have shown great progress in their abilities and consequently some will be moving groups tomorrow.

After an uneventful journey we have arrived safely and settled into the hotel. The children were greeted with a steaming plate of delicious food before heading out to the snow adjacent to the hotel to be assessed.   In the evening, teams were organised for a 'paper tower' competition which was judged for beauty, height and stability. The children were very creative and worked together brilliantly.  We're now all looking forward to our first day of full skiing.
