Sports days 2009
On Tuesday the 16th and Wednesday the 17th of June, all our PBS students took part in two sports days. The Tuesday was an interhouse competition and also an individual competition. Within the five individual events were activities such as football accuracy kicks, nerf ball distance throw, and cricket wicket hitting. The team events included the classic fun team sports activities such as tug o war and egg and spoon races.
All teachers were involved in facilitating one of the ten activity groups. It was great to see both students and staff having a lot of fun under the sun! During lunchtime, a few year twelve students organized a wet sponge competition which involved throwing sponges at staff members to raise money for charity. 1300kc was raised and there were a lot of very wet staff members as well!
Smetana was the overall winning house and the under 14 individual champions were Shane Pause and Petra Kroupova. The u18 winners were Frank Stary and Danai Baouraki. The overall points winner was Frank, and the sportsman of the day was Norman Vitarigov.
All in all a great day was enjoyed by all.
On the Wednesday, students were split into year groups and played softball and football.
The year 7s and 8s played round robin softball till break whilst the year 9s and 10s played round robin football. After break, the two groups swapped around and we finished the day’s proceedings with a prize giving ceremony.
Luckily the weather was great as it wasn’t to hot or cold. Looking forward to next years sports days!
