Kamyk Scholarships

In cooperation with the Metropolitan District Council of Prague 12, the Prague British School offers two scholarship programmes.

1. IGCSE & IB  4-year study programme

2. IB 2-year study programme

Selection criteria:

To obtain a scholarship at the Prague British School – Kamyk, a child must meet the following criteria:

• Date of birth between 1 September 1997 – 31 August 1998 (IGCSE) or 1 September 1995 – 31 August 1996 (IB)
• Czech citizenship or citizenship of an EU member state
• Permanent address in Prague 12

Other requirements:

• Excellent academic results to date
• A certificate of good health from their doctor
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
• An outstanding talent in one or more extra curricular areas: music, sport, other area of interest
• The school results expected from a student educated under the PBS curriculum
• A positive attitude to the international cultural environment

Tests to be taken:

English language test

Face to face interview

How to apply for a scholarship:

To start the selection process the following documents must be sent to Mr. Tim Roberts, Head of the Senior School at PBS:

• Completed application form
• A copy of the child's birth certificate
• Certificate of permanent address or permanent residence within the Metropolitan District of Prague 12
• A copy of their vaccination card and a certificate of good health
• Copies of reports from previous schools
• A letter of motivation from the parents explaining why their child should get a scholarship at the Prague British School (in English)
• Any other documents that may be useful in awarding a scholarship

Deadlines for applicants

16th March 2012	applications shall be delivered to Mr. Tim Roberts, Head of the Secondary School at PBS
30th March 2012	children will be invited for an interview and written tests
16th - 20th April 2012	interviews and tests
27th April	PBS will inform successful candidates.

Rules governing scholarship awards

Persons entitled to apply for a scholarship for his/her child must be either a citizen of the Czech Republic, acting as the legal guardian for his/her child and living with the child in a common household, provided that he/she as well as his/her child have permanent residence within the Metropolitan District of Prague 12 as of the date of submission of their application, or a citizen of an EU member state who has had permanent residence together with his/her child within the Metropolitan District of Prague 12 for at least 3 years. A scholarship worth 90% of the school fee shall be granted to a successful student during the period of school education pursuant to the curriculum of the Prague British School, i.e. until completion of Year 13. A scholarship shall be granted during the whole period as specified above only on the condition of an uninterrupted permanent address or permanent residence of the scholarship holder in the Prague 12 Metropolitan District, his/her good academic results and conduct as well as acting in compliance with the PBS internal school regulations.
