Football tour to The Netherlands- 20/11/2010

The 2010 football tour was a success.

Mr. Taufer, Mr. Newton and Ms. McBurnie took a twenty eight strong key stage three team that had been training hard throughout the first term.

It was the first time we had a full 11 a side touring girls team, the girls made us very proud by securing an away win after the 1-1 draw came to penalties against the British School of Amsterdam (BSA). A great save by Zuzana gave us the victory.

The boys beat BSA  3-1 on a bumpy surface. Wout, and Irakli had great matches.

We went to the British School of the Netherlands with confidence, yet we also went with apprehension as the school is four times the size of PBS.

The girls unfortunately lost 8-1, we were simply outplayed by a more drilled team. The boys played exceptionally well, and to our surprise we won 11-0. Ethan scored five and Tom and Jo scored three a piece.

We also took in the sights of Amsterdam with a canal cruise, a Van Gogh museum tour, and also a live match between AJAX Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven which was a highlight.

Over all I believe a memorable trip was had by all involved.
