Several PBS teachers have signed up to this year’s Movember challenge to raise awareness and funds for men's health; specifically prostate and testicular cancer by growing a ‘Mo’ (aka moustache). The goal is to spark conversations, as well as, of course to generate some laughs; all in the name of raising vital awareness and funds for cancer's affecting men.
The motivation behind this is serious: 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime; and this year 37,000 new cases of the disease will be diagnosed. If diagnosed and treated early, many cases can be treated successfully. Men are less likely to go to the doctor compared to women and raising awareness of prostate and testicular cancer is essential to ensure early diagnosis and successful treatment.
A donation box and an information board is placed at the front of the school.
At the end of November we will post updated pictures as well as the results of the competitions for the most outstanding, funny, and worst moustache...
