Specialist lessons

Physical Education (PE)

The PBS Primary PE department at both Kamýk and Vlastina have their own full time specialist physical education teacher. This teacher works with each class from FSU through to Year 6 twice a week, with the focus on improving and developing both their individual and team skills.

The age specific games and activities used at PBS are designed to help movement and co-ordination which are essential as the students progress through the school PE curriculum.

Information on the different sports and skills covered by the students is available each term in the form of the class newsletter.

Music

Both Kamýk and Vlastina primary schools have their own specialist music teacher who takes all classes from FSU to Year 6 once a week. Wherever possible, units of work are planned to compliment the IPC unit of work done in the class. During lessons, children have the opportunity to explore basic musical concepts such as tempo, rhythm and dynamics through singing, playing percussion instruments, listening to music, and composing. Children also have the opportunity to sing and perform during whole school assemblies and shows. Music assemblies allow pupils who take instrumental lessons, or sing in the school choir, to perform for their peers.

French

Kamýk and Vlastina primary schools share a specialist French teacher. Children from Year 3 to Year 6 receive one French lesson per week. The lessons focus on themes that last 4-6 weeks and links with the IPC unit of work. Certain children may not be timetabled for French in order to receive additional English lessons (EAL) or learning support (SEN).
